The names of some foods can sometimes make you wonder.  For example, buffalo wings.  How do they get wings from a buffalo?  The origins of some food names are often more interesting than the foods themselves.  Eighteenth-century British aristocrat, John Montagu, loved to play cards.  Wanting something that he could eat easily without interrupting his game, he ordered salted beef between two slices of bread.  The snack caught on and took its name from Montagu’s title: the 4th Earl of Sandwich.  Interestingly, Montagu almost took the title of Earl of Portsmouth, and if so, the lunchtime favorite _____ called a Portsmouth.”

(A) must be     (B) might have been   (C) will be      (D) had been

During another twenty-minute rest at the roadside, I thought I might have been dead if either I had not put on the helmet or any kind of car behind me had hit me while I was lying there.
