Helen Huang - Freshwoman

According to the picture, a man is praying in a temple, with incense sticks in hands.  A few steps in front of the man standing a huge pot, several incense sticks stabed inside, which makes the temple absorb in a unique aroma of thick smoke.  Generally, Chinese prayers hold incense sticks in hand when praying, being a long-lasting tradition passed down by ancestors.  However, such behavior has been in debate recently since researchers revealed the threats it pose.  Every time people burn the incense, it produces a large amount of carbon-dioxide, which accelerate the rate of global warming.

Accordingly, the particles when burning incense sticks produces can cause great damage to our lungs.  Once breathe in, they can barely be breaked down by our bodies, which eventually lead to lung diseases.  As a result, more and more environmentalists and temples as well have advocated to reduce the usage of incense sticks, or even ban on using it.  After all, it is never a worthy thing to sacrifice our health and environment to make wishes especially we are unsured whether they come true.

According to the picture, a man is praying in a temple, with incense sticks in his hands.  A few steps in front of the man standing an incense burner, many incense sticks are placed in it, which makes the temple absorbed in a not very pleasing aroma of thick smoke.  Generally, Taiwanese prayers hold incense sticks in their hands when praying in many rituals.  Passed down by ancestors In Taiwanese society are these long-lasting rituals where one of their major parts is incense burning which has been in a heated debate recently since researchers revealed that it posed serious threats to us obviously.  Whenever and wherever people burn incense, it produces large amounts of smoke which is mainly carbon-dioxide definitely accelerating global warming.

There are a lot of invisible tiny things in the smoke, some of which are particles floating in the air.  They can cause great damage to our body, especially our lungs.  Once we inhale them, our body can't decompose, absorb, and digest them, which eventually leads to lung diseases such as lung cancer.  As a result, more and more environmentalists and temples as well have advocated reducing the usage of incense, or even banning its usage.  After all, it is never a worthwhile thing to sacrifice our health and environment to pray for something, especially when we are not sure whether they will come true.
