Mother’s Day (by 12th grader)

Wayne – 12th grader

Mother’s Day, celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of May, is a celebration honoring the mother of the family.  Originated in America, Mother’s Day has spread over the world and being practiced by many countries as well as Taiwan.  For most people, it is a festival that makes people give thanks to their mother by offering gifts or accompanying their mother to have meals or activities.  Although I will do the same thing as others, such as having special meals or buying gifts, for me, the meanings behind Mother’s Day are more than it seems to have.

When I was a child, Mother’s Day is nothing but a day when my father command me and my sister not to be naughty but to be well behaved to our mother.  At that time, it was just like an annual routine for me without noticing the reason behind it.  Not until I grew up did I realize my father’s intention – to give gratitude to my mother.  Nevertheless, as I grew older, Mother’s Day started to play another role me – a reminder.  Mother pays all her attention and endeavor to his family all year long., and how could we give our infinite thanks to her within one day?  That is, we shouldn’t just specialize Mother’s Day, forget and ignore mother’s efforts in other days.  The best gift we can give is to make her feel every day like Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day (by 12th grader)

Mother’s Day, celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of May, is a special day in honor of the mother in a family.  Originated in America, Mother’s Day has being practiced by many countries as well as Taiwan.  For most people, it is the time for them to show their appreciation to their mothers by sending gifts, having nice meals, or doing some activities.  Although I will do so as well, for me, the meaning behind Mother’s Day is more than just what was stated above.

When I was a child, Mother’s Day is nothing but a day Father would ask me and my older sister not to be naughty but to behave well in front of Mother.  At that time, it was just like an annual holiday for me without noticing the reason behind.  Not until I grew up did I realize my father’s intention – to express our gratefulness to Mother.  Thus, as I have become a teenager, Mother’s Day is a strong reminder about love and gratitude.  Mother has done all the necessary and difficult things for both family and children.  How can we give our infinite thanks to her just on one Sunday?  We shouldn’t forget and ignore Mother’s greatness during the rest of a year.  The best gift we can give Mother is to make her feel every day like Mother’s Day.
