Four Seasons in Taiwan (by 10th grader)

Melody – the 10th grader

Taiwan, the most beautiful island I have ever seen in my mindIt’s not only famous for the delicious food but fascinating scenery which will changes differently during four seasons.

When it comes to spring, a hundred flowers bloom.  The most fantastic thing must be cherry blossom, the petals of it fall down into the river.  People talk and laugh to welcome the beautiful scenery brought by spring.  It’s a wonderful time to let people enjoy the warm weather, in addition, it’s also great for everyone to stroll with other one.  Then it comes summer, which season we often stay at home, turning on the air-conditioner and seldom go outside.  But this period is also the best time for everyone to go swimming, hiking or even sailing.  In my opinion, the greatest thing during summer is eating ice cream.  Giving myself a break after the work.  How wonderful it is!  Autumn my favorite season.  In this period, I often go on the mountain, watching the stars on sky.  If I am lucky, I can see thousands of stars shouting down the sky.  It’s Meteor shower.  A slight breeze of fresh air stirred across my face.  You can never imagine what the beautiful scenery is and how comfortable to enjoy the breeze in autumn until you try it on your own.  In the end of year is winter that we regarded it as a cold and lonely time.  In contrast, I think it’s a warm season that people reunion and share the happiness with each other.  With family, friends, or even lovers it will never be lonely anymore.

Taiwan, the most beautiful island I have ever seen in my life, is famous for not only its delicious food but also its seasonal fascinating scenery which will change differently as the upcoming season rolls in.

Spring represents a new beginning of a year.  We can see a lot of flowers bloom in the field, backyard, or balcony.  To me, the most fantastic scene is that I see the petals of the cherry blossom falling down and floating in the river.  It can make me stand at the river bank for a long time appreciating in this amazing beauty of spring.  At the same time, we start to enjoy the warm weather after a cold winter, which leads us to stroll in the countryside in the morning or evening.  From time to time, we can hear people talking and laughing to welcome the season full of colors and energy.

Then, summer hops in.  It is the season people in Taiwan often stay at home, turning on the air-conditioner, and doing whatever they want to in the pleasant air.  In summer, it’s common to feel burning hot when going outside.  But it is the best time to go swimming, hiking, or even sailing.  In my opinion, the happiest thing is to have ice cream which gives me a cool break after work.  How wonderful it is!

Unknowingly, autumn follows.  On weekends, my family and I often climb mountains watching sparkling stars in the sky.  If we’re lucky, we can see hundreds of stars shooting across the night sky.  It’s Meteor shower.  In the evening, a slight breeze will caress our faces while my parents and I sit at the balcony watch the sunset.  Others can’t imagine how incredible that in autumn, they can take in such breathtaking scenery and enjoy as gentle breeze as it can be until they experience it by themselves.

One or two months before the end of a year, winter sneaks in through the window and the door.  Many people regard it as a cold and lonely season while I think it warm and tender because family members will get together joyfully and cherish their reunion during Christmas or Chinese New Year holiday.  With happy family members around us and a cup of tea in our hand, it definitely will drive coldness and loneliness away.  Instead, our house and hearts are filled with warmth and peacefulness.

After we walk through spring, summer, autumn, and winter in Taiwan, we can see Taiwan is a Formosa indeed.  It is a country unmatched by any other country in the world.
