學測指考英文寫作 – Parents’ Expectations

原作 ]

Parents’ Expectation

Joy

How much money and effort do the parents pay to raise a child ? The amount is too large to count. Based on their selfless care and cultivation, there is no doubt that they have some expectations of their children. Some hope their children earn lots of fortune and fame.  Others ask their children to achieve the dream that they hadn’t finished in their young age. Still others want nothing but companionship when they are old.  Seldom do my parents put their oar in my life, I still know their expectations through their actions.

First, being little, I had been taught not to lie. If I do something wrong, my parents prefer to listen to the truth no matter how terrible it is, rather than a lie that sounds wonderful. In my family, it’s believed that honesty is the best policy. Second, they care a lot about my attitude.

Speaking of study, most parents regard the grade as the most important part. However, my parents put emphasis on my study attitude, which releases my pressure when getting a bad grade to some extent, because I know I try my best. The last one, they support me to do everything but some activities which are harm to my health. Every time we celebrate their birthday, they always wish that everyone will be safe and healthy. As a result, there are few dangerous experiences in my life.

There is the old saying that ‘Every parent hopes their children will have a bright future’. My parents are no exception. However, their expectations urge me to walk longer on my life road and broaden the sight that I see the world instead of making me under lots of stress.  One day, having children, I will teach them what I have been taught and hope that these expectations will be inherited from generation to generation.

How much money and effort do the parents put into raising a child?  The amount is too large to count.  Because of their selfless care and cultivation, there is no doubt that they have some expectations for their children.  Some hope their children earn lots of fortune and fame.  Others ask their children to achieve the dream that they hadn’t finished at their young age.  Still others want to be accompanied by their children when they are old.  Seldom do my parents talk to me about their expectations for me, but I still know what they are through our mutual interaction.

First, being little, I had been taught not to lie.  If I do something wrong, my parents prefer to listen to the truth no matter how terrible it is, rather than a lie that sounds wonderful. In my family, we believe that honesty is the best policy.  Second, they care a lot about my attitude.  Speaking of study, most parents regard academic performance as the most important part.  However, in preference to excellent grades, my parents put emphasis on my study attitude, which releases my pressure derived from heavy schoolwork or poor grades.  The last one, they support me to do whatever activities I like except those which do harm to me.  So, every time we celebrate their birthdays, they always hope that everyone will be safe and healthy.  As a result, there have been few dangerous experiences I have gone through.

There is an old saying that ‘Every parent hopes their children will have a bright future. My parents are no exception.  What they expect me to do is not only to have a good career path to make a good living to raise my family but also to broaden my horizons and thus enable me to have a long journey in the world.  One day, when having my children, I will teach them what I have been taught and hope that these expectations will be inherited from generation to generation.
