文法 – 形容詞子句(關係子句) (1)

在停課期間，老師有提供線上教學(網路教學)，授課的教本包括三民、翰林與龍騰。現在有15位同學，若有興趣請留言與老師連絡。

形容詞子句是以關係代名詞或關係副詞引導出來的子句，用來形容或修飾名詞。它本身包括主詞與動詞，是一種從屬子句(非獨立子句)，所以一定要連結主要子句(獨立子句)。而這個被形容或修飾的名詞叫做先行詞。這種以關係代名詞或關係副詞所引導出來的子句，也稱為關係子句。

在形容詞子句中，常用到的關係代名詞如下：

who      – 用來修飾人，受格是whom，所有格是whose。

which    – 用來修飾事與物，受格是which，所有格是whose。

that       – 用來修飾人、事、物都可以。受格是that，沒有所有格。

what      –是包括先行詞的關係代名詞(= the thing which)，用來修飾事與物。

                   受格是what，沒有所有格。

各類形容詞子句的介紹：

1)   who的例句

      -     The man who is standing there is our English teacher.

            主要子句：      the man is our English teacher

            形容詞子句： who is standing there

            先行詞：          man

            who是形容詞子句的主詞

      -     Kitty wanted to make friends with Sylvia who came to our school this semester.

            主要子句：      Kitty wanted to make friends with Sylvia

            形容詞子句： who came to our school this semester

            先行詞：          Sylvia

            who是形容詞子句的主詞

      -     I had a meeting with a lady who was a famous movie star before.

            主要子句：      I had a meeting with a lady

            形容詞子句： who was a famous movie start before

            先行詞：          lady

            who是形容詞子句的主詞

2)   whom的例句

      -     That is the girl whom we met at Bill’s birthday party.

            主要子句：      that is the girl

            形容詞子句： whom we met at Bill’s birthday party

            先行詞：          girl

            whom是形容詞子句中met at的受詞

      -     In order not to get into any trouble in school, Maurice stays away from most of his friends whom he has been fooling around with.

            主要子句：      Maurice stays away from most of his friends

            形容詞子句： whom he has been fooling around with

            先行詞：          friends

            whom是形容詞子句中be fooling around with的受詞

3)   whose的例句

      -     My mom received a call from a person whose name was Kim.

            主要子句：      my mom received a call from a person

            形容詞子句： whose name was Kim

            先行詞：          person

            whose是形容詞子句中who的所有格，而主詞為whose name

      -     People should respect their teachers whose responsibilities are to educate students and keep them safe in school.

            主要子句：      people should respect their teachers

            形容詞子句： whose responsibilities are to educate students and

                                       keep them safe in school

            先行詞：          teachers

            whose是形容詞子句中who的所有格，而主詞為whose responsibilities
