文法–形容詞子句 (3) 關係代名詞不能與人稱代名詞一起使用?

關係代名詞不能與人稱代名詞一起使用，因為在關係子句中已經使用關係代名詞(who、which、that與what)，若再使用人稱代名詞則是重複。人稱代名詞包括I、you、he、she、it、we與they等。詳細地說，關係代名詞在關係子句中不是當主詞，就是當受詞或補語。一個子句有一個主詞，就不能有第二個主詞；一個子句有一個受詞，就不能有第二個受詞。若關係子句有二個主詞，則要去掉人稱代名詞的主詞；若關係子句有二個受詞，則要去掉人稱代名詞的受詞。

關係代名詞不能與人稱代名詞一起使用：

1)   Many people don’t like to work with Gary who he is very picky.

      who與he不能一起使用，要改成à

      Many people don’t like to work with Gary who is very picky.

2)   The man whom I talked with him yesterday is my brother-in-law.

      whom與him  不能一起使用，要改成à

      The man whom I talked with yesterday is my brother-in-law.

3)   The present which my mom bought it for me was just what I wanted.

      which與it不能一起使用，要改成à

      The present which my mom bought for me was just what I wanted.

4)   We took a picture in front of a large house that it was Vicky’s.

      that與it不能一起使用，要改成à

      We took a picture in front of a large house that was Vicky’s.

5)   Her parents don’t allow her to buy what Mary likes it.

      what = the thing which與it不能一起使用，要改成à

      Her parents don’t allow her to buy what Mary likes.

6)   In a New Year’s party, you can eat whatever you like to eat it.

      whatever = anything that與it不能一起使用，要改成à

      In a New Year’s party, you can eat whatever you like to eat.
