A Volunteer Job in a Hospital

Jerry Han – the 12th grader

A few years ago, I went to a hospital to be a volunteer. What drove me to do so was the heart of helping others and the eager to see the doctor's real work in the hospital by myself. On Saturday, I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. Surprisingly, they assigned me to do the service in the emergency room where I could see the truely world of doctors. Excited as I was, the job in the emergency room was really tiring. I delivered patients to different rooms for check, guided the family of patients to find the right way and we help the ambulance.

Bloody and busy as the volunteer work was, I was happy to sacrifice myself to help the need. Every time patients said "thanks" to me, I always smiled from the bottom . Not until I became a volunteer did I realize how hard was the doctor's work but it couldn't stop me. I hoped that I had put good impressions on people who saw me. And they could devoted themselves as well because the hospital was lacking man power. I was glad that I had such a meaningful experience.

A Volunteer Job in a Hospital

Jerry Han – the 12th grader

A few years ago, I went to a hospital to be a volunteer. What drove me to do so was my humanitarian thought to help others and my eagerness to know how doctors would do their job in the hospital. On a Saturday morning (One Saturday morning), I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. Surprisingly, I was assigned to help doctors and nurses in the emergency room. Excited as I was, the job in the emergency room was really tiring. I escorted patients off the ambulance, sending them to different rooms for checkup, and guiding their family to the right places to see them or to take a rest.

Bloody and busy as the volunteer work was, I was delighted to sacrifice myself for the sake of helping people in need. Every time the patients and their family said "thanks" to me, I always returned their appreciation with my contented smile. Not until I became a volunteer did I realize how exhausting and difficult the doctor's work was. But it couldn't stop me from being a volunteer in the hospital. I hope that I left a good impression on people I helped. And they will devote themselves to helping others as well because not only hospitals but also other charities are lacking in manpower. I am glad that I have a valuable experience and would like to be a happy volunteer again whenever I am available for it is worth my while to do such a meaningful job.
