A Dream (by 12^th grader)

Wayne – 12^th grader

I used to have dreams, dreaming about possible and impossible future.  Dreams made me stronger, encouraged, and urged me to work harder to achieve it.  I used to dream of becoming a doctor in my future.  However, sometimes, dreams are just dreams, dreams that will never come true.

When I was young, my body was very weak that I often had to see a doctor.  Unlike most people, I’m not afraid of doctor, since every time I leaved his office, I would feel better and my body wouldn’t hurt anymore.  At that time, I started to dream that if I become a doctor, I can save many people like other doctors do.  Since then, I  started to study hard at school and read many books in order to get good grades, hoping my dream will come true.

Nevertheless, when I got into senior high school, I’ve noticed that there were many studied harder than me, and most of them were smarter.  Still I studied harder than I did and spent all my time on studying.  Not until I finish the college entrance exam did I know that I wasn’t smart enough to be a doctor.  Although I won’t become a doctor in future, this dream still inspires me and got me good grades, and I think there are more ways to save people in need.  Maybe my dream will never come true, having a dream has benefit my life a lot.

I used to have several dreams, dreaming about the unseen future.  Most of the dreams were inspiring, making me stronger, courageous, and urging me to study harder.  In them, I would like to be a doctor most of the time.    

When I was a child, I was so feeble that I often had to see my family doctor.  Unlike most children, I wasn’t afraid of the doctor for I felt better after I left his clinic every time.  Since then, I had started to dream that if I became a doctor, I could cure many people’s illnesses and even save their lives, just like other doctors did.  Therefore, I studied harder at school and read as many books as I could in order to get good grades in hopes of fulfilling my dream.

Nevertheless, since I got into senior high school, I’ve noticed that there are many studying harder than I, and most of them are smarter.  Even so, I still study harder than I did before and spend all my time preparing for College Entrance Exam.  Not until I finish the exam do I know that I’m not that smart to be a doctor.  However, my dream still inspires me and helps me with my studying and makes me realize there are a lot of ways to save people in need.  Even though my dream won’t come true, having a dream can make my life colorful and meaningful.
