On the morning of October 20, 1943, eleven Nazi’s agents burst through a door of a polish woman’s apartment. They searched the entire apartment __1__ and if they __2__ in seconds earlier, they __2__ the precious list. Knowing the list was safe, she breathed a sigh of relief.

The woman was Irena Sendler, a social worker who showed compassion to Jews and to those who were persecuted by the Nazis.  At the time, the Nazis established the Jew ghetto where they kept the Jews there, and they __3__ the area for strict containment.  The conditions in there were very harsh, and many people died of starvation every day.  __4__ by these conditions, Irena decided to help them by joining an underground resistance group and began helping them.  Irena __5__ a lot of her friends and colleagues for this mission, and they tried to sneak Jewish children out of the ghetto, so that they won’t be sent to the concentration camp in Auschwitz.  Once they were inside the ghetto, they would have to deal with a bigger challenge, that is, to convince Jewish parents to hand their children over to strangers.  In the end, many parents made the heart-wrenching decision in hopes that their children will survive.

They tried every method to __6__ those children out of the ghetto. They hid them in suitcases, flour sacks, etc. They even hid babies under the stretchers in an ambulance, and they trained their dogs to bark in order to drown out their cries. Because they know that once they got caught, they will definitely be __7__.
