Iceland located in Europe __1__ breathtaking landscapes, boiling mud pool and auroras.  But little does one know that Iceland is also the world’s most gender-balanced country.  For the last decade, Iceland has been ranking number one on the World Economic Forum’s global gender gap index.

The path to equality began on October 24, 1975, when 90% of the female population participated in the “women’s day off” protest.  They feel uneven for the wage inequality of men and women, so, instead of doing domestic chores or looking after kids, they decided to __2__ in protest.  With the majority of women going on a strike, the nation became a place of chaos, and business and factories __3__.  Additionally, because most of the nurseries consist of female workers, so the strike left many children unattended.  That left men with no choice but to take their children to work with them.  The protest paralyzed the nation.  However, __4__ this protest, the government would not __4___ amends to the law and support female workers.  The law bans gender __5__ in workplace and in schools etc.  However, in 2005, the Iceland’s pay gap showed that women still get paid less than men by 38.85%.  So, on the thirtieth anniversary of the women’s day off, women decided to go on another strike.
