如何使用[ for one thing …, for another … ]以及[ one the one hand, … one the other hand, … ]

[ for one thing …, for another … ] 對一件事情的描述或所說過的事，給予理由支持。它的意思是 [一個原因是… 另一個原因是…]

句型：  For one thing, …  For another thing, …

              For one thing, …  For another, …

例句：

1.  But money is not always good.  For one thing, being greedy to make more money, many people do a lot of bad things and become criminals.  For another, the rich become richer while the poor become poorer, which create a wider gap between rich and poor.  It turns out a worldwide economic problem.

2. You shouldn’t tell a lie.  For one thing, once you tell a lie, you might need another lie to cover it.  For another thing, you might get used to it, and you become a liar and don’t feel ashamed at all.

3.  Teenagers are required to have enough sleep.  For one thing, if they get enough sleep, it is good for them to be active and energetic every day.  For another, it can help their immune system fight off any diseases.  

[ one the one hand, … one the other hand, … ] 對一件事情做了陳述，隨後做了一個對比。它的意思是 [一方面… 另一方面…]

句型：  On (the) one hand, …  On the other hand, …

              … On the other hand, …  (on the other hand之前的敘述就是on the one hand，但被省略)

例句：

1.  On (the) one hand, our math teacher can teach us math.  On the other hand, he can teach us English as well.

2. On one hand, David is glad to know he can get into Harvard University.  On the other hand, he feels sad because he doesn’t know how to pay the expensive tuition fee coming up soon.

3.  On one hand, Victor wants to prepare for national science contest.  On the other hand, he needs to spend time preparing for the final exam coming soon.  Eventually, he will run out of his time.

4. Rocky is good at many languages.  On one hand, he can speak Chinese.  On the other hand, he can speak English and Japanese.

5.  People don’t like to have outdoor activities in the hot summer.  On the other hand, they like to stay at home to enjoy the cool air from the air-conditioner.
