基礎文法 – 第4講  助動詞[ do ]的用途與功能

助動詞[ do ]的用途與功能：

1.   幫助形成疑問句。

1)   Do you want to have some water?

2)  Does he like to watch TV?

3)  Do they have a meeting now?

4)  Do I need to give you a call later?

2.  幫助形成否定句。

1)   I don’t know how to solve this problem.

2)  You don’t tell us the truth.

3)  He doesn’t hand in his homework on time.

4)  We don’t need to practice basketball this afternoon.

3.  代替前面的主要動詞。

1)   Alan:      Did he call you?

      Nick:      Yes, he did.  (Yes, he called me.)

2)  Mike:      I don’t like to drink Coke.

      Nick:      I don’t, either.

3)  Cathy earns more money than I do.

      = Cathy earns more money than I earn.

大部分其他助動詞也有上述三項功能。

4.  加強主要動詞。

1)   Jimmy does like Alice.

2)  We did see Susan yesterday.

3)  I do need your help.
