Jack and His Smart Dog

Tammy Lai – the eighth grader

It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon.  Jack walked his dog, Flash, in the park.  Then he sat on the bench reading his favorite magazine.  The weather was so comfortable as to make him fall asleep.  After an hour, he woke up.  He found that his dog wasn’t beside him.  At first, he thought that maybe it was playing with some insects or walking around, and would come back soon.  But after half an hour, he felt something wrong.  His dog didn’t come back, which made him worry.  He searched the playground and bushes in hopes of finding Flash, but in vain.  He was very sad and had no choice but to go home alone.  To his surprise, he saw Flash home safe and sound waiting for him in front of his house.  How amazing!  He told his dog, “Are you all right?  Do you know I’m looking for you all the evening?  It tired me out!  Don’t do that again.  OK!  Let’s go inside.”

It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon.  Jack walked his dog, Flash, in the park.  Once he arrived, he sat on the bench reading his favorite magazine and let Flash sit next to him.  The weather was so comfortable as to make him fall asleep soon.  After an hour, he woke up.  He found that his dog wasn’t beside him.  At first, he thought that maybe it was playing with some insects or walking around, and would come back soon.  But after half an hour, he felt something wrong.  Flash didn’t come back, which made him worry.  He searched the playground and bushes in hopes of finding it, but in vain.  As time went by, it became darker and darker.  He was very sad and had no choice but to go home alone.  To his surprise, he saw Flash home safe and sound waiting for him in front of his house.  How amazing!  He told Flash, “Are you all right?  Do you know I’m looking for you all the afternoon?  It tired me out!  Don’t do that again.  OK!  Let’s go inside.”
