A Cockroach in the Bathroom

Simba Chang – the 9^th grader

Helen was tired after working hard all day long. She decided to relieve the pressure by soaking in the bath. Enjoying this comfortable and quiet time she closed her eyes humming a tune to herself. Before long, she heard a faint sound and found a cockroach crawling on the wall. Although she was afraid of cockroaches, she still picked up a slipper and got ready to hit it. She thought she could kill it easily, but she was wrong. She jumped up to give it a deadly hit. Suddenly, she lost her balance, fell and knocked the whole things over. To her surprise, the cockroach flew away and seemed to laugh at her. She felt not only embarrassed but also angry.
