Almost Late

Julie Chen – the 12^th grader

It was at midnight that Tom fell asleep when he was preparing for the coming exam. If he had reviewed early, he wouldn’t have had to stay up late. He woke up at five o’clock, but as he was reading his math textbook, his eyes closed again. The sun light shooting at his face, he woke up but still felt sleepy. He looked at the clock. It was almost eight o’clock. Afraid of being late, he jumped up the chair and changed his clothes quickly. Because the bus had already gone, he took a taxi to school. He wasn’t late when he arrived at school. However, he forgot to bring his wallet. All he could do was call his friend to pay the money for him.

He woke up at five but as he was reading his math textbook, his eyes closed again. The sunshine filled his entire room, which woke him up but he still felt sleepy. He looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost eight. Afraid of being late, he jumped to his feet and changed his clothes quickly. Because the school bus had already gone, he had no choice but to take a taxi to school. It was eight twenty-five when he arrived at school. To his delight, he made it. However, he forgot to bring his wallet. All he could do was to call his friend to pay the taxi fare for him.
