A Donut Store
Helen Huang – the 11th grader
One day, Nick was on his way home as usual. All of sudden, an idea came across his mind, which made him decide to make a detour in the neighborhood. The moment he turned to the corner, a scent of caramel and something else wafted through the air. Excited by the sweet smell, Nick walked along it and found a new-opened donut store. He wasn't disappointed by the long line of people. Instead, he was steeped in the lovely imagination of sitting on a hill consisted of donuts during the waiting. Little did Nick know that he would never make it, or even worse, bringing no donut home that day. His delightful dream was broken when the customer before him told the clerk that she would like to buy twenty of donuts, which was the exact number of the rest. In the end, Nick surely didn't get any donuts.

One day, Nick was on his way home as usual. All of sudden, an idea came across his mind that he had better make a detour in the neighborhood. The moment he turned to a corner, a scent of caramel and something fragrant wafted through the air. Excited by the sweet smell, Nick walked toward it and found a newly-opened donut store. He wasn't disappointed by a long line of people. Instead, he was steeped in a lovely imagination of sitting on a hill with donuts piled up all over during his waiting. Little did Nick know that he would never make it, or even worse, bring no donut home that day. His delightful dream was broken when the customer before him told a clerk that she would like to buy twenty donuts, which were the exact number of the rest left on the counter. In the end, Nick surely didn't have any donuts and reluctantly walked home.
