A Day without a Cellphone (by 12th grader)

With the high speed of the advance in technology, communication devices such as cellphones are being more and more crucial to our lives. Were it not for cellphones, tens of thousands of business might not be compromised every day. People far away from their home may have difficulties connecting with their family without cellphone, not to mention getting touch with the latest news in the Net. The whole world would certainly go into a mess if there were a day without cellphones.

 

However, it is cellphone that block us from apriciating the environment we live in or places we pass by. People have been attracted by the colorful pictures and bizzare news in cellphones, thus gradually forget how beautiful flowers are on the way home as well as the innocent smiles on the children's face in corners of the city. Getting rid of a cellphone, though, enables me to regain these forgotten scenes around me. Regardless of the inconveniences, it has more advantages than disadvantages to me. Needless to say, it is time for me to take a break from life occupied by my cellphone. After all, how bad could it possibly be if I just turn it off a day?

With noteworthy and rapid advance in technology, communication devices such as cellphones are being more and more crucial to our lives. Were it not for cellphones, hundreds of thousands of business deals might not be compromised and nailed down every day. People far away from their home may have difficulty connecting with their family without these wonderful communication tools, not to mention keeping them updated with the latest news in the Net. The whole world would certainly get itself into a mess if there were days without them.

 

However, it is cellphones that block us from appreciating people and things around us. The reality is that people, in addition to its fancy functions, have been attracted by colorful pictures and bizarre messages and news which can be browsed, interchanged, and stored through and in a small smart gadget. Therefore, we gradually forget how beautiful flowers are on the way home as well as innocent smiles on the faces of a group of children running on streets in our city. How bad it can be if we just turn it off one day? Causing inconveniences in some ways, putting it aside enables us to regain the scenes fading out and rejoin the gatherings with friends that we used to have. Needless to say, it will be good for us to take a break once a week in order to get back to a normal life which is occupied and dominated by these small devices now. After all, we are humans instead of machines.
