My Favorite Novel – 西遊記

Everyone would have the experience of reading.  Reading is a double magic; a writer turns his or her thought into inks and readers turn the inks back into thought.  If we read a book, we can feel a different style of thinking and enjoy the world created by the writer.  This is why a popular book is able to attract a lot of readers in world.

For example, The Journey To The West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels, is a masterwork which everyone may have heard.  The story is about a Buddish monk, XuangZhang, who had to go on a pilgrimage to India in order to get the Buddish scriptures.  On the way, he and his disciples, Sung Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, encountered a lot of difficulties and disasters, but they never give up.  Eventually, they arrived India and came back to China successfully.

When reading this story, I always felt satisfied because the interesting plots makes me excited.  Among all the adventures they had gone through during their journey, it is the part which Sung Wukong made three attempts to borrow the Plantain Fan from Princess Iron Fan that most impress me.  In order to put out fire on the Flaming Mountain, Sung Wukong tried to borrow the Plantain Fan from Princess Iron Fan, whose son was restricted by Bodhisattva just because of Sung Wukon.  Though Princess Iron Fan wasn’t willing to lend the Plantain Fan, so smart and powerful the clever monkey was that he finally borrowed the fan, extinguishing the flames which had been growing larger and larger for hundreds of years before they visited.

The Journey To The West is such an amazing novel that attracts lots of people to read it even though it has been many years since the story was published.  By reading it, we learned that we should never give up and that we must have the determination to reach our goal.  Also, we can experience distinctive adventures with the characters, laughing when they are happy, crying when they are sad.  No wonder the story not only is famous, but also makes people all over the world enjoy it.

Everyone would have the experience of reading.  Reading can produce an immense chain reaction; a writer turns his or her thought into words and readers turn the words into thought and imagination.  If we read a book, we can feel a different style of thinking and enjoy the world created by the writer.  This is why a popular book is able to attract a lot of readers in the world.

For example, The Journey To The West, one of the four Chinese great classical novels, is a masterwork which everyone may have read.  The story is about a Buddhist monk, Xuang Zhang, who had to go on a pilgrimage to India in order to get the Buddhist scriptures.  On the long and arduous journey, he and his loyal disciples, Sung Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing, encountered a lot of difficulties, setbacks, and disasters, but they never gave up.  Eventually, with a determined and united mind, they arrived in India and came back to China safely and successfully.

When reading this story, I always felt satisfied because the interesting plots made me excited.  Among all the adventures they had gone through during their journey, it is the part that Sung Wukong made three attempts to borrow the Plantain Fan from Princess Iron Fan, impressing me most.  The reason why Sung Wukong needed to borrow the magic fan from the beautiful princess was because he had to put out the fire on Flaming Mountain which was a very difficult barrier for them to go to India.  However, the princess’s son was punished and captured by Bodhisattva due to Sung Wukon, which made her unwilling to lend the fan to him.  So smart and powerful the clever monkey was that he finally borrowed the fan on his wits, extinguishing the flames which we would see at present if they couldn’t been extinguished then

The Journey To The West is such an amazing novel that has attracted hundreds of millions of people all over the world to read it since the story was published about 400 years ago.  By reading it, we learn that we should never give up doing anything and that we must have the determination to reach our goal.  Also, we can experience distinctive adventures with the characters, laughing when they were happy, sorrowing when they were sad.  No wonder, the story not only wins the impeccable appreciation from its readers but also is recognized as one of great literary masterpieces.
