A Close Call

Julie Chen – the eleventh grader

After working all day, Tom was on his way home. When he almost got home, a dog gazed at him on the road. Tom passed by it with a look of terror on his face. Suddenly, the dog barked at him loudly, and Tom screamed out in fright. He ran away as fast as he could, but the dog still followed him. When the dog was going bite him, he saw his house was just right in the front. He took out the key quickly. He inserted the key but the door couldn’t open. Fortunately, his wife heard his sound and opened the door. Tom walked in house and closed the door quickly. It was just a few minutes that Tom might be bitten by the dog.

After working all day, Tom finally was on his way home. When he was a few blocks away from his house, a dog glared at him on the road. Tom passed by it with a terrified look. Suddenly, the dog barked at him loudly and fiercely, and Tom screamed out in fright.   Running away as fast as he could, he was closed followed by the dog. When the dog was going bite him, he saw his house was just right in the front of his eyes. He took out the key quickly and inserted it into the keyhole. But the door was still not open and he let out a yell. Fortunately, his wife heard and she opened the door to let him in. Tom was nearly bitten by the dog. A few minutes later, he was calm and felt completely at ease. He said to his wife, “It was really a close call.”
